Peter (Pete) Hampton is presently active on HF/VHF/UHF mainly QRP SSB,PSK31 and digimodes.

First licensed as G8CJV from Feb 69 to Apr 71 operating 2m AM from Worcester. G4ADJ allocated in April 71. Initially active under this call on 2m AM and CW also with a few mW of home brew SSB. In Oct 72 moved to University of Kent at Canterbury, England to study Electronics. Operated G3UKC mainly 15m and 2m SSB In 74/75 QSL Manager for G3UKC.

1974 summer vacation - taught ham radio, electronics and farming at a summer  camp in Roscoe, N.Y.,U.S.A. Obtained G4ADJ/W2 call and worked several stations on 75m and 40m CW using a renovated Heath DX-40 TX and NC130 RX

Nov 75 - Article "Using TTL ICs in SSB equipment published in "Ham Radio" magazine. By this time was living in S.E. Nigeria (5N5) as a Voluntary Services Overseas Maths/Physics teacher in a small bush school. No ham activity from 5N.

Oct 78 to Jul 79 at Oxford University for Post-Grad. Cert. in Education. Member of G3OUR. Operated 10m. SSB many lunch hours.

Sept 79 to Dec 81 teaching Physics/Maths at a Secondary School at Witney near Oxford and living in Oxford. Bought my first HF rig - a TS120V and had many DX contacts from home and mobile despite the low power (10W). Best DX KH6IBA on 10m SSB using an indoor dipole!

Jan 82 to Jan 85 In Oman as Maths/Physics Teacher. Also operated HF SSB as A4XYA using a TS130SE and 14AVQ. In 1984 became R.O.A.R.S. Radio Amateur's Exam. instructor at R.O.A.R.S. HQ.

Feb 85 to Jul 86 Living near Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire, England and operating HF SSB and 2M FM.

Aug 86 to Apr 98 in middle east again as Electronics/Physics/Maths Teacher. No Ham activity from there but some HF SSB from home in Worcester during leaves.

Apr 98 to present date. Living in Worcester and making up for lost time by being as active as possible when family commitments, work and household chores allow!

Have taken a keen interest in the CQWW SSB contest in recent years reaching second place in the Low Power, Single Operator, England section in 2006.  

As a tinnitus sufferer have also developed a research interest in audiology and hearing.
