I am active on working DX I have DXCC on qro (100W) as well as QRP (<10W pep) Im also working on 60 metres (5 Mhz) on qrp as part of the uk trial. reports welcome. outside of this hobby I have moved to the North West of the UK. My current station is a FT897D & FT817 with a Datong ASP RF Speech processor and Heil DX5 headset. My aerial I am currently working with is a 7 - 50Mhz OCFD top 66' legs 44 + 22 feer at 29' as an Inv Vee.

My location: WAB SD46 Book 1242

We are (just) within the WFF location G-FF-144 Morecambe Bay but also qrv as G4LDS/p in either G-FF-143 - Leighton Moss or G-FF-144 Morecambe Bay from Hest Bay.

I use the great Log4OM software for logging & cluster but no PC controlling radio.

One thing about the hobby is the experience gained by changing & comparing different aerials. (Have also been working on 1:1 balun & un un, 4:1 un un & balun & 9:1 un uns plus a 30' and 19' verticals.

I live in Morecambe and we have a lighthouse or two! in the area and I hope to active from these so listen out for my Ft817 signal as G4LDS/p. We are also surronded by beautiful countryside, mountains and hills and due to local high noise at the home location.

I may be out and about amongst these again as G4LDS/p, using my FT817 + 8 metre pole with a linked diople and a SLA battery for longer operating times. If your into WFF or Lighthouses, I can be at GFF 144 (Morecambe Bay) and maybe LH Eng-190 - Morecambe stone jetty

I am a member of the RSGB (since I left school in 1970),the G-QRP club and the SANDS contest group (G1T & M0SCG see the website)

My fav bands are 28 Mhz and 7 Mhz.

I enjoy contest and DX working. I support where possible the major HF contests (CQWW, ARRL & fav RSGB 21/28 )

Logs will be uploaded to LtoW and Club-log

I have worked as an Apprentice Craftmen and gained my City & Guilds as an Instrument/Wireman assembler at Marconi's in Chelmsford and ended up working as a Transmitter Engineer in High Power HF test. The site was the Factory which Mr Marconi built in the 1930s and pre war had 300 +foot masts used for testing under the call 5SW.

I have since worked as a Quality Assurance Engineer, a Quality, Health and Safety Engineer and a Health and Safety Advisor. Although currently "between jobs" due to open heart surgery & hip replacement!! I aim to be back working and enjoying the countryside.

I took an OU Humanties Degree and have been awarded a BA.i enjoy 17th century history both frem reading/research as well as re-enactment
