Hi . I am Des , I have been ill with ham radio since

1973 ( aged 14 ) originally G8IIR . ( see picture of Saif A71AM on visit to my shack in Sept 2012 above ) And also my personal station Logo ; The dreaming spires of Oxford , home of inspector Morse !!!!.

Some interesting things have happened to me because of our great common interest.

  • I arranged transportation of a growth stimulant drug to a sick boy in Portugal after a request from a CT ham in 1983
  • Involved in passing emergency traffic during Mexico earthquake disaster.
  • Featured on British television after a request ( 1991 ) from within the Lithuanian parliament building during their hour of need ; subsequently received a letter of thanks from the then president VYTAUTAS LANSBERGIS . This letter stands proudly on my shack wall as a testimony to the power of Amateur radio.
  • Helped testing with " desert voices " communication link during first Gulf war.

My pictures show myself and XYL Trish on a seaplane in Valetta , Malta .

Also pics from Giza , Egypt .

See one of our Emergency Vehicles.

GEAR : TS 590 . TS 850 . Alinco DX70.TS 440 Ameritron AL1200
