The name of the Society was changed in 1938 to the Royal Air Force Amateur Radio Society (RAFARS). In 1951 the society moved from Royal Air Force Cranwell to Royal Air Force Locking and in 1999, to Royal Air Force Cosford. The Society's Headquarters therefore has always been at No. 1 Radio School.
