The Radio Society of Harrow has been invited to demonstrate amateur radio / morse code and display some WWII communications equipment at Bentley Priory from Thursday the 10th of September to 13th 2009, from 10:00 to 17:00.

We will be using the GB80RBP, as last September, for the special event call sign This stands for RAF Bentley Priory, and the 80 is the rounded number of years it was an Royal Air Force Base. This special event call is valid from 01/09/09 for 28 days. The Ofcom Notice Of Variation is held by David G0CAG.

On Thursday and Friday 10,11th, (private tours ) we will running HF, VHF/UHF only, but on Saturday and Sunday 13-14th - open to the public, there will be:-

Three HF stations:

(1) 160, 80,40 – Carolina Windom (North South IO91TP)

(2) 20m – 10m; (east west ) G5RV, which is in two locator squares, Running from the main balcony (East side) (IO91UP) to theadjacent 1950s accommodation block (IO91TP ). "Northing" longitude line boundary runs through the building just past the west side of Lord Dowdings outer office !

An HF station receiving SSTV / PSK31 - wire antenna

VHF and UHF FM possibly D-Star (if somebody brings along a D-Star rig) Diamond V2000 on the roof of Bentley priory (150-155M ASL) and 2/70 vertical on 6m mast

(3) RTTY running Creed teleprinter (7b/75) /computer with a 2nd teleprinter printing out the history of Bentley Priory being punch tape fed. / may operate psk31 / SSTV? Organised by Brian G3YKB  – Antenna Radio Works G5RV (approx East West (IO91UP) )

ATV from Dave G8ADM and team with a microwave link to GB3BH from which video can be streamed over the net. With a 3g stick for back up ( IO91UP)

Last September 2008 the Radio Society of Harrow was invited by the Bentley Priory Battle of Britain Trust to give a demonstration of amateur radio and Morse code to the visiting public for the Heritage Open Days on 13th and14th September. The weekend was very successful for us and also the Trust with over 6000 visitors. (IO91TP) - Also in march 8th, 09 at a fund raising event for the trust , we operated GB80RBP from lord Dowdings outer office.

This is a wonderful opportunity to visit a site, which has been closed, to the general public for over
70 years. Enjoy 4 days of free heritage activities at Bentley Priory, formerly home to the Duke of
Abercorn, Queen Adelaide and HQ Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain and the Cold War.

Travel to Stanmore (Jubilee Line) or use A4140. Lots of car parking available. Good wheelchair access
