QSL Information
I prefer EQSL or LoTW. They are simply and easy to use. We must STOP using paper qsl cards.
We MUST save the trees. We need trees to hang dipoles from hihi !! I also update qrz.com logbook.
I do not collect paper cards, but I will respond 100% to any cards sent to me via the bureau but it is slow. If you are looking for a card quickly, EQSL or LoTW is the way to go Please, please, please do NOT send me qsl cards directly
Training Activities
I find encouraging people to enjoy the hobby is extremely rewarding but I think it important to encourage and develop the skills of those interest in the hobby at their own pace, especially the young.
Courses are on-going locally at Stirling District Amateur radio Society all year long and on demand as needed. The club call sign is GM6NX (was GM4TMS previously). These courses are managed overall by William (GM0MZB) assisted by the registered instructors at SDARS.
If you are interested in some training for the RCE and becoming licensed in the Central Scotland / Forth Valley area please email us at getmeontheair@gm6nx.com and some-one will be in touch.
You will find SDARS a most friendly crew.
You can get more details from the club website www.gm6nx.com or from the RSGB main web site.
I would like to thank everyone at SDARS for their help with training activities. It is much appreciated.

About me.
Work wise I do hardware and PCB design during the day on broadcast television products.
Operating Modes & Contests
My main interest is RTTY, PSK and CW in that order, I try and get as much contest activity in RTTY or CW as I can, My contest call is GM1C.
Equipment
Currently using ICOM IC-7600 and enjoying it very much. For contests and faster operating I use it with MixW3 . I also use a FT-897 and a YAESU FT-1802 installed in my van for mobile use.
Antenna wise I am very limited to garden space, very limited, so I use a single element Cuschcraft D-4 rotary dipole for 10-15-20-40 and a D-3W for 12-17-30 and a wire Dipole for 80M.
The D-4 was bought to replace the nasty Comet H-422. NEVER EVER buy one of these pieces of junk! The H-422 is the worst antenna and biggest waste of money I have come across. I would have been better leaving my 1/2 G5RV UP instead !!! at least it would not fall to bits
Other Interests
Construction would be next on my list of fun stuff to do and with the exception of RTTY operating, It is more fun than general operating for me. I do give CW a bash via PC when I can, but it is hard work.
