GZ7V is the first-ever station to use the 'GZ' prefix - a special prefix issued to indicate that the Shetland Islands (GM/s) count as a separate country multiplier in CQ WW and WAE contests.

The GM7V team travelled to Shetland in Oct 2000,Oct 2001 and Nov 2003 to activate GZ7V.
