During the 31 years that Trujillo ruled the country, 1930/61, only very close associates of the regime, with a few honorable exceptions, were allowed to operate a ham station. In 1961 license No. 103 was issued to me. Today, only four hams with a license number lower than mine are alive, and as far as I know, there's only one of them active on the bands.

During 47 years on and off the bands, I can surely say that hamming has been a good companion, particularly at this stage of my life, when most other activities, if not all, are practically impossible.

My only regret has been seeing so many good old friends go silent key. Though new friends are always in the making, those gone will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

Past activities: Car racing, motorcycling, bicycling, private pilot (instrument), boating, fishing, tennis, soft ball, cabinetry, machinist, photography.
