On air since october, 1981, After a long stop of more than 10 years (marriage, new job, divorce and so on) a few years ago I did restart my DX activity.

Unfortunately, moving from my previous housebuilding and due to neighbourhood problems, I have had a lot of difficulties to go on air, and thus, in order to avoid any fight and legal problem,I set my RIG for mobile purposes, and now MY CAR IS THE USUAL SHACK, working /P with a car homebrew top-loaded antenna set (here's displayed the magnetical base and antenna tuner - more details at http://www.aricz.it/progetti.htm).

On 40/80m my antenna is a simple wire chucked from car roof to trees, using a simple antenna tuner CG3000 . . . on the low bands I prefer this [poor] solution - the car roof seems to be a performing conterpound, since evidence proofs no car antenna gives a good compromise performance/dimensions (as should be got when one's forced to operate /P).

There's a hill 1 mile behind my housebuilding when I usually place the car: it's not easy to work DX in this way, but I can't do anything more& else. Of course the largest part of DX-peditions are gone lost, but a time to time the miracle happens (Peter One, Clipperton, Scarborough, Chesterfield, S.Orkney, Swans and Ducie the last ones) and it's always a great pleasure to hole the pileup by car. . using less than 100W and a whip.

IC-740 is my rig (aged like me ) but in spite of years and hard-jobbing it's still working great HI.

Recently I've got the allowance to put a 9 meters (29.5 feet) wire between the roof and the banister of my house building, and using a match I also work at home, even though the tuner does not allow using power more than 100W, and obviously poor results .but . . . . it's better than nothing.

I starded CW using before a mobile ham-belted CW key, now a little home-made paddle with magnetical base. My CW is not so good, and perharps it'll be never, but it's just to exchange RST and a few words or a short QSO but QRS Hi.

My eLog program is BBLOGGER, simple, fast, friendly-interface, complete, daily and free upgradable.
