Joe Iwakura passed his first amateur radio exam when he was 14 years old. After college, he was employed by an electronics manufacturing firm and transferred to New York where he was licensed as N2AIR. After 11 years in US he returned to Tokyo, took a job in the financial industry and was transferred to Zurich where he operated as HB9LEY. During his stay in Switzerland he spent more than 100 days in Liechtenstein using the call HB0/HB9LEY. Since 1998, Joe has been quite active on the air in Japan especially with HF CW, having lots of fun with DX contesting and chasing DXCC entities on the Top Band. He is a member of the Tokyo 610 DX Group and CDXC. Currently has been running RBN with low dipole for half wave length of 160m from central Japan.
