Western New York (Erie County)

I started out in 1979 as a Novice using a borrowed crystal controled Heath Kit HW-16 and a Dipole. I made hundreds of contacts with that station.

In the 80's and 90's i focused on VHF/UHF DX and Contesting, Via Tropo, E-Skip, Meteor Scatter, Lightning Scatter, rare grid DXpeditions, Aurora and a little Moon Bounce. 144mhz. VUCC No. 60 (175 grids) from EN82.

Call Sign History; Michigan, 1979 as KA8DCO (novice), N8CKH (general), KE8LY (advanced), WA8B (20 wpm extra). 1989 I moved to Buffalo, NY and became WO2R and now opperating as K2QQ.

The equipment Icom 746 and an Ameritron AL-82 Amplifier. Antennas are a Hustler Ground Mounted Vetical 80/40/30/20/15/10, Dipoles 18/24 and 3 elements on 10m, 4 elements on 6m.

I operate all modes on 80m thru 10m. I enjoy handing out points constesting and chasing new countries, I log via LoTW.

I am a Vietnam Combat Veteran (1968 - 1969) and was stationed on a hill near Chu Lai at an Americal Division Artillary fire base. In civilian life i was a Civil Engineer for 35 years. Now retired i have many hobbies and own and operate OMG Design revisiting vacuum tube use and circuit design.
