QSL: SILENT KEY JAN 2013

Silent Key

I am known by my middle name, MIKE

My station currently consists of an Elecraft K3/100 transceiver and a KPA500 Amplifier. The antenna system is a 3 element SteppIR antenna with the 40 Meter loop installed. It gives me coverage from 40 thru 6 Meters. It is mounted about 15 Meters above ground on a self supporting tower.

The station is configured for complete remote control via the Internet. The K3 and KPA500 are controlled by an Elecraft K3/0 and RemoteRig RRC-1288MkIIs control Boxes. The SteppIR Antenna and the Hy-Gain TX2 Rotator (with the RotatorEZ interface installed) are controlled with the PSTRotatorAZ application, which features a great SteppIR Control Window, installed on my home computer . I can remote desktop into the home computer to use the application and also pretty much anything else I can do from home.

The remote control of the station has exceeded my expectations. Operating on HF or on a local Maryland 2 meter repeater I have to tell the other station that I am remote and not at home. They cannot tell. Also operation on the control end is virtually transparant. It seems like I am sitting at my station at home.

Kudos to both Microbit for the RemoteRig Boxes and to Elecraft for the K3/0.
