With my license about to expire I updated to Techinican and built several home brew 6 meter rigs plus a couple of Heathkit rigsfinallt upgrafing to General in 1970 - School, work and other intrest got the best of me license expired. My intrest in ham radio was re-newded in 2003 thanks to Jerry K5AXN who contacted me and encourged me to re-new my license. I re-took the General class license exam in August 2003 and received the call KD5ZAW . As a CW operator I could never get use to the new call so I applied for and received my original call which was thankfully still avaliable. I passed the Extra Class license exam in April 2006. I enjoy operating CW, SSB and a little AM on 80 metersbut most of my operatimg time is spent chasing DX on CW. I have a collection of Heathkit Boat anchors for AM ,. I recently sold my FT2000 replacing it with a FTDX5000Mp . I have a Alpha 87a that I can use when I need the extra punch. Thanks for reading my bio. I hope to work you on the bands Jim K5WLQ Last modified: 2011-09-11 18:20:12, 1500 bytes cached
