My wife is Alicia, KG6LJ. My brother is Vic, W9RGB, in West Lafayette, Indiana. Life Member ARRL, A-1 Operator Club, FOC 1868, FISTS 10134. I've enjoyed mostly CW since first licensed in 1963. Use SSB and FM mainly for ARES (emergency communications) which is very active in our area because of the isolation of Humboldt County. I retired after working for Hewlett-Packard/Agilent for 26 years in Test & Measurement and remain on the Board of the National Conference of Standards Laboratories (www.ncsli.org). Arcata is located near the Oregon border on the northern California coast. It is home to Humboldt State University. Rigs: IC-7800/PW-1, IC-756Pro and Elecraft KX1 for QRP. Antenna restrictions require stealth antennas -- thank goodness for the redwood trees. Primary antenna is a 102'(31m) doublet at 50'(15m) fed by a Hamware.de AT-515 remote tuner. For nostalgia, I keep my old Heathkit SB104A/SB200 and TO keyer running. Favorite paddles are the Pearl, Graciella and Sculpture by Pietro Begali, I2RTF. Other hobbies are early music (recorders) and astronomy.
