After my discharge from the Marines as a Radiotelegraph Operator (MOS: 2533) I started over with a new novice license in 1974. I learned Morse Code while in High School as part of our basic electronics classes and always enjoyed using it. While attending radio school at MCRD San Diego, I was able to work in the MARS station (N0ANP/W6YDK) helping run phone patches and RTTY message traffic. Many thanks to Sgt. Barry Weathersby (W6YDK) and SSgt Thomas for teaching me the basics of handling traffic and running phone patches. After Radio School, there was a short-assignment at Camp Pendleton, CA. then most of 1969 and part of 1970 at Chu Lai air base in Viet Nam. The last two years of my active service was at Camp Lejeune, N.C. as a marksmanship instructor until 1972. After starting over with a new Novice license in 1974, I worked my way up through General and Advance Class and passed my extra class exam in San Francisco late in 1979 while living in Fairfield, CA.. Previous call signs were WN6TYO, WA6TYO, KF6K and NN7B. I changed to my present call sign in 2006. In June of 1991, I met the love of my life, Peggy, N7MTL, at the Ham Radio Outlet store in San Diego and were married in October of '91. Today my station northwest of Reno, Nevada in Cold Springs Valley, is where I enjoy operating mostly CW on 30 and 40m with a little SSB on all HF bands operate with my off-center fed inverted vee at 40-ft.
