Hello, I was first licensed as a Novice in 1990. Upgraded to Tech in 1990, Upgraded to General in 2000 and finally Extra in 2008. I have never changed my call. I'm primarially a phone op, but I may go digi from time to time. CW is getting slowly better again, hope to do CW again in the fall/winter of 2009!

I love radio, and never seem to be without it. I could and should get into amplifiers, beams, etc. Plenty of time... I have a family, and they need some time, too, hi.

BASE: Running an Icom 756 Pro III inside a small room in a small barn! (small window to the left on the picture) It's a true old-fashioned ham-shack! Lately, I cheat, and run all the equipment inside the QTH :) Mic is an Icom SM-20, Key is a Bencher BY-1 Paddle.

I tune a "Cobra Ultralight Senior" 160m Dipole antenna ~20m up in the pine trees behind the shack and inverted. I converse via Phone and rarely SSTV and RTTY. You can find me mostly on 40, 20 and 17 meters.

Newly added: APRS IGate/Digi and a part-time EchoLink Simplex Node on VHF

MOBILE: Icom IC-7000 through frame-bonded Icom AH-4 coupler and 102" stainless whip, mounted on a custom Breedlove brass ball mount on a 2008 Hyundai Elantra. I also use a Larsen 2/70 for VHF/UHF

Mobile Rig

VHF/UHF QRP PORTABLE: Yaesu VX-8 HT with Diamond duckie-load (walking, hiking, laziness) or Arrow 4 element beam (2m, seriousness, sitting down!)

HF QRP PORTABLE: Yaesu FT-817ND with home-brew 40-6 meter 'ShitePole' $1 wire dipole! It actually works!

I like to camp, hike and canoe and drag the HT/HF. I don't really frequent repeaters, but love the 'sport' of FM simplex/HF while portable!

QSL:

Send QSL Direct, Buro, LoTW or E-QSL (http://eqsl.net). I will return QSL in same manner as I get them!
