And when I was 14, Thank you to Jim Wicks KFT-7580 ( yes a CB call ) for taking the time to teach me

My station currently is an Icom IC736, SB-220, mfj-989c, a simple home brew horzontal dipole up 85',

My favorite key is my C.W.Lewis key mfg in 1860's I bought right here on QRZ.com. A fella offered it for sale for $18.

When it arrived, I contacted him and told him there was a mistake, this key was worth LOTS more than $18,

and should be in a musuem or in the hands of a real collector. So I offered to return it. He replied,

" NO, the SK it belongd to would be happy to hear it on the air again. " so, I use it, almost every nite.

I wish to thank the fella who sold it to me, and the SK. I use this key in your honor..

After several small strokes, I no longer am able to work, and really enjoy my CW time. It helps.

2008-2009

My current project is working directly with the local fire dept South Pierce Fire and Rescue dist-17 and a small group

called "Twin Firs ETC" to povide back up communication. The need became evdent in 2006 when a deadly accident,

and 2 fire fighters that were able to communicate only by ham radio to get help.

We now have ham radios in all 7 fire atations and most of the trucks. We licensed many of our fire fighters through the

selfless efforts of NWSOAR , N7UO,KE7JDY, W7EMS, Twin Firs ETC and many others.

With the expansion of our local fire district adding 3 more fire stations and assoiated personel and equipment,

the project has expanded rather rapidly. ie:PHASE II.. ( ETC-II ) headed up by Steve Blacksten AD7VL ( KD7UBE )

and my recently appoined  Director of Communications II  Ron Schafer KE7SCA.

We are not part of ares or races because of the nature of what we do.

With the accuracy that must be maintained, we connot afford to have interference or distractions

or to have our equipment or facilities commendeered by another project durring our operations.

We work autonomous of any other group.

Potentially every call we make is directly related to a 911 call, either to route man power, equipment,
or medical services directly related to immediate response to preserve life and property, or in preparation thereof..

With that as our official statement, it is our goal to pass fire dept traffic exactly as given.
