John - KC0DEB
In 1997 I took a big step, and moved from the Netherlands
-aka Holland -to the State of Kansas. Hence the dual flag in the address box at the top of the page.
( and the little hint on bottom right corner of my QSL card ;-)
Here I obtained my Amateur Radio licenses in the order of Novice, Technician and currently General. The upgrade to Extra Class was close, but a couple of additions to the family put that on hold. Ofcourse English is my main language on the air, but if you are a Dutch, Flemish or South African speaking Op, please do not hesitate to call me in your native language. Now with the average sunspot number slowly climbing, and the bands being more stable, I enjoy a casual ragchew in the Dutch language.!
Since the age of 14, I have always been interested in HF Communication. But it wasn't untill 1998, when I obtained my FCC Amateur Radio license, that really got me "hooked" on DXing and Contesting in particular.
As a "Bare Foot" station, it is a constant challenge to reach that far DX, or beat that old personal score. Hey, I am not complaining.... I like these challenges! Recently I took on another one : Learn and operate CW. Just switched from straight key to iambic paddles, and I'm still struggling a bit. And very QRS, but with time I hope to join the ranks of the proficient CW Ops. So far I am having a good time with it, and I like to thank the Ops who bring down their speed to my level. And not to forget the OPs who encouraged me to start and try CW. Thanks guys!
If we just met on the air, Thank you for the QSO !
A QSL card will be very much appreciated, and can be send the following ways:

* U.S.A. : When sending Direct, a S.A.S.E. would be appreciated
Normal QSO's will be uploaded "live" to Club Log Normal QSO's will be uploaded "live" to eQSL.cc All QSO's will be uploaded to LoTW daily.
Contest QSO's will be uploaded after the contest ends.
My main interests are DXing and Contesting, which can be a challenge every once and while when you run a "Bare Foot" station.
I can be found on the bands, participating in one of the many contests throughout the year. This is something I really enjoy doing. As a SOLP entry, I like to casually roam the bands and do mostly S & P. Some modes I frequently use are: Phone, RTTY, PSK31/63/125, JT65 and CW*. Other modes I occasionally use are: Olivia, Contestia, Hellschreiber, MFSK and MT63.
DID YOU WORK ME IN CW? I AM IN THE PROCESS OF MASTERING THE ART OF CW, AND STILL VERY QRS! TNX FOR YOUR PATIENCE
Work in progress: WAJA
Currently I am working hard to obtain the WAJA award.
Early morning and late afternoons have seen great propagation to Japan recently, and many nice QSO's were made in several modes.
It is not going to be easy, but I hope that I can proudly hang this award on the shack wall someday. Below I have listed all the Prefectures; and 1 station I have worked / confirmed ; so far.
( I only counted "Paper" QSL for confirmations, as I do not think JARL is accepting LoTW confirmations. )
All JA paper and LotW QSL cards are welcome, and greatly appreciated. All will be answered 100%.
To all JA stations I have worked so far : Domo Arigato !
