Everyone is welcome to attend and/or join our exciting and growing club. Dues: $12.00 yearly for individual or $18.00 for all family members. The club currently supports a 2m repeater on frequency 145.270 tx/144.670 rx with 162.2 Hz. The Repeater is good for mobile coverage up to 50 miles from repeater site. It is a Motorola Micor unified chasis with DB-224 antenna mounted atop a city water tower with the antenna at 1449 ft above sea level; antenna fed with Andrew LDF6-50 1-1/4" heliax and repeater utilizes a CAT-200B repeater controller and DB-4060 duplexers. Repeater linked to Echolink, node #113667 and is open to all American stations. The repeater is also equipped with a Peet Brothers UT-100 weather station and local weather conditions can be accessed over the air. See www.nixhams.net for a list of access codes.

We also provide the 442.275 repeater with + offset at 447.275. Use PL 162.2 Hz to access this repeater. Coverage is generally 35 miles for mobiles running 35w. This repeater is located high atop Cox South Hospital in South Springfield, MO and utilizes a DB-408B 6.6 dBd antenna, fed with approximately 30 feet of AVA5-50 7/8" heliax. Currently, the repeater transmits 20w. It is a pair of Motorola CDM-750 UHF radios and utilizes an Arcom RC-210 controller. This repeater also acts as a UHF backbone "Linking" repeater, allowing all of the Nixa ARC repeaters to be linked via full duplex.

Perhaps one of the most exciting things in amateur radio in Southwest Missouri in 2006 happened in early June when the first 6m repeater in the area went on the air operating on 53.270 TX / 51.570 RX PL 162.2 Hz tone at its permanent location. It is regularly heard by stations as far away as Kansas City, MO in both a mobile and base station environment. The 6-meter repeater is a top-notch professional installation utilizing two CDM-750 low-band radios modified for the ham band and a Henry C300C30R repeater amplifier to push the final output to 250w. The antenna system consists of a DB212-C-6 6-bay folded dipole array with the top element at 500' spanning over 80 feet of tower. It is fed with Andrew LDF6-50 1-1/4" heliax. TX RX duplexers for 6-meters and TX RX 11-14-06 dual-cavity bandpass filters separate the transmit and receive audio. Also installed is an Andrew DB-408A UHF antenna at the 400' mark which serves as the UHF mesh network link antenna. Using a CAT-1000B controller, any repeater that wishes to link with the 53.270 in the Southwest Missouri area is welcome to do so by simply contacting club officials for details.

In March 2008, the Nixa ARC installed the 224.280, input 222.680, PL 162.2 Hz, repeater atop the Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO. It utilizes an Arcom RC-210 controller and a pair of Motorola CDM-1550LS+ 220 MHz radios act as the repeater. Duplexers are Sinclair Q2330-E and the antenna is a 3 dBd gain Andrew DB-573-EE. This repeater is permanently attached to IRLP, node 3995. It provides similar coverage as the 442.275 repeater with just 9-W into the duplexers. This is the only 220 MHz repeater in Springfield, MO, and the first in over a decade!

Also in March 2008, the Nixa ARC installed the first 33cm repeater in the area. The 927.5375, 902.5375 input, repeater utilizes a PL of 162.2 Hz. It is located atop a 400' tower in Republic, MO with a 9 dBd gain Andrew omni antenna. The repeater is a modified Motorola MSF-5000 repeater with an Arcom RC-210 controller and Cellwave 900 Mhz duplexers. This is an open repeater for anyone wanting experiment with 900 MHz.  This repeater covers about a 50 mile radius from Republic for 30w mobiles with a 5 dBd antenna.

All Nixa Amateur Radio Club repeaters have FULL backup power. The 145.270 and 442.275 and 53.270 repeaters have battery backups. The 53.270 and the 927.5375 both have a permanent mounted generators. The 145.270 utilizes Alltel's huge battery backup bank and has access to a site generator in case of emergencies. The 442.275 and 224.280 utilizes a small UPS and the Cox South hospital generator to provide power rock solid AC power.

Everyone is invited to one of our dynamite club meetings, generally held on the last Saturday of the month as mentioned above. Lots of excitement about ham radio at our meetings as we discuss our primary goal of expanding the bands in Southwest Missouri allowing hams to venture outside the lines and into repeaters on new bands.

In 2009, the club HF committee is raising funds and trying decide on an HF station for club members to train on and enjoy.

We will be participtating in the June 2009 ARRL Field Day exercise June 27-28 2009 at US 160 and MO 14, special event callsign N0A will be used.

In May 22, 2009, we will be celebrating "Sucker Days" with the rest of the City of Nixa. Look for us on 3.850, 7.250, 14.250 and 21.350 and EchoLink node 113667 from 0800 to 2100, CST.

See you soon!
