Click for more detail... New Callsign August 7,2009 K9JVQ is my new vanity callsign and my previous call "KC9OKC" is gone with the winds of change. I must admit it was a really neat first call, but I decided that I would take up the old call of my great uncle Donald James Smith. Because of his influence long ago my Dad (KC9OAA) and myself recently (last year 08) joined this great hobby. Thank you Uncle Jim. I received my first call KC9OKC in October 2008 and in November 2008 I upgraded to my general ticket. I have to give credit to some local hams who really helped me get started in this great new adventure called Amateur Radio - Dave WB9GBG, Karl KC9AA, Les K9KGM and of course my dad Donald KC9OAA. Thanks gentlemen for your input and help it is greatly appreciated. Love the hobby I just can not say enough about this hobby because of the freedom it has brought my way. I am disabled with a nerve disease and this severely limits my physical abilities but this hobby has allowed me to be a very "active" participant despite my physical limitations. I must insert here that I believe absolutely that it was no accident this opportunity came my way but that it is the sovereign hand of my Lord Jesus Christ. Praise you Lord for what a blessing indeed have the ham community been to me just within this last year. Now you know where I stand on that. Thank you also if you were part of an uplifting and encouraging QSO. My wife, KC9PDP, and I have been joyfully wed for eleven years and she is my hero she takes great care of me and our very active household, my oldest is 10yrs and the little one is under 2yrs. Future station plans We are currently in the process of preparing a tower for installation in my garden. It will be about 50ft with a cushcraft A3S beam atop(thanks Dave) God Bless your DX 73 de K9JVQ Last modified: Wed Aug 12 07:32:14 2009 Does this page contain inappropriate content?
