I was first licensed in 1980 as WD9JCC. Later moved to Minnesota and had the call KD0JN. Moved back to Illinois 4 years later and changed my call to KE9NJ. In 2008 I got the vanity call of KE9N. I enjoy restoring ham radio equipment (Collins 75A-4, KWS-1,and TS520S) and operating the HF bands. I am married to my wife Sheila, and we have three children.

Here's the shack, as of May 2011. Using a Yaesu FT-2000D, SPE Expert 1K-FA Amp, WX0B Stackmatch, Orion 2800PX with Green Heron RT-21D controller. FT-857D used for 2 meter / 440 FM and sideband operating.

Antennas consist of Diamond X-510 vertical for 2M/440 FM, Cushcraft 3 element beam for 6 meters, A3WS 3 element beam for 12/17 meters, Cubex 8 element 2M/440 quad with rotatable polarization for 2M/440 FM or sideband work. Cushcraft X-9 28' boom for 10/15/20 with 40 meter dipole kit. Also have (2) Cushcraft D-3 dipoles spaced 90 degrees apart for 10/15/20 meters at 34 feet. Delta loop for 75/80 meters and shunt fed tower for 160. Tower is a Rohn 55 eighty feet tall. See you on the bands!
