My name is Jim and my shack QTH is Alvin, Texas.  Created 1962 I just gained my first ticket 03/2013 and have been busy scratching together gear to get on the air. I run an Icom 718 with a RigBlaster Advantage and LDG IT-100 auto tuner into a G5RV flat top at about 35ft. I enjoy this rig at the moment on 10m with some psk-31 but am picking up etiquette from all bands. For local operation I picked up a Kenwood TM V71a and run it out an Arrow j-pole also at about 35 ft. A 50A Astron ps is currently feeding my small shack. I run a personal weather station using a Davis Instruments Vantage Pro2 that can be viewed below via Weather Underground.  I'm an active Skywarn storm spotter and ARES member.  I have plans for the 60 ft of Rohn 25g tower I have that includes the use of a very heavy custom falling derrick base plate, I had a local shop fab for me, that in theory will simplify raising and lowering the assembled tower (proximity to the gulf coast and severe weather in mind, pics to follow on that big day). By trade I'm a nurse of some 30+ years, currently in the Houston medical center area. I hope to become involved in all aspects of our local emergency preparedness efforts and I have a side interest in weather and love to take the Harley out for a ride weather permitting. cheeky
