I was licensed at age 15 in the era of tubes, crystal controlled Novice transmitters, and real live FCC examiners. The avocation lead to vocations in various areas of RF communications, from broadcasting and microwave work to space shuttle and satellite communications, including some FB time in the Foreign Service as a propagation and frequency person with the Voice of America. I have been blessed with much travel and opportunity to meet other 'hams' around the world, and remain convinced in spite of all the looming challenges we face that this is still the worlds best hobby!
