* These bands only include CW/SSB/MeteorScatter QSO's - I don't work FM. ============================================ HF Equipment: Icom IC-756ProIII, ACOM 1000 Amp, Yaesu FT-1000MkV (Backup rig). VHF/UHF Equipment: Icom IC-910H, Tokyo Hy-Power Amp (330 watts 2mtr). Antennas: Hustler 6BTV Vertical, 160mtr Inv. L, 6ele 2mtr yagi forSSB/CW/MeteorScatter. 11ele 432 yagi SSB/CW/Satellites. 25ele loop yagi for1296 SSB/CW. 6mtr loop. Primary Interests: CW CW CW! DXing, With the new Amp (ACOM 1K) I've beenenjoying 160 meter DXing! Or just chatting on HF CW. Also enjoy wrking QRP andto take part in QRP contests as well as other HF contesting. On VHF/UHF and Up again I love working CW. Currently have 65 grids worked on 2meter SSB/CW/Meteor Scatter. Running 330 watts for 2 meter Meteor Scatter hasbeen alot of fun. You'll also hear me on the Satellites. AO-7 and VO-52 are myfavorites as I can run SSB and CW. Working CW on a satellite is a bit of workdue to doppler shift while receiving CW. Licensed in the Spring of 2004 after many years of wanting to get the licensebut just not doing it. Got my start in radios in highschool in 1976. I wantedto listen to Air Traffic Control and the multiband radio I bought at the timealso covered the SW bands. After hearing many foreign stations I was fascinatedabout radio and wanted to learn more. For many years I was a heavy SWL, HF Military and UHF Military listener andstill am today. Other interests include Saltwater Fishing and Flying (private pilot for 18years). Until 2001 I lived in PA so if you’re from PA give me a call..... ============================================ Are you a local ham looking for an Elmer? I’m willing to help any local ham who needs help getting setup or operating. When getting into Ham radio I had a very hard time finding local Elmer’s thatwould help me in the many areas of Ham radio that I was interested in. Do you live in an antenna restricted community? I can show you how to buildvery low profile but very effective antenna systems that even your next doorneighbor won’t see but yet will allow you to work the best of DX on HF! Sorry I don’t do J-Poles or G5RVs! Here is my experience in the hobby: In less than 5 years I’ve worked over 130countries and all 50 states on HF (using low profile antennas), worked over 100grids on 6 meters (without a monster yagi), over 60 grids on 2 meters. I workQRP thru QRO, work satellites and meteor scatter on 2 meters (you will beshocked at how easy it is!). Need help with your operating your radio? I have Yaesu and Icom experience.Working DX has as much to do with knowing how to operate your radio as havinggood antenna (you know when to use RF gain and Attenuators and how to operatesplit - right?) I know what it is like to find help and its clear to me that others are havingthe same problem when hearing so many new hams giving up after being licensedfor only a year or less. What I can’t help you with is FM repeaters or towers. But if you would like to experience HF, VHF/UHF, or space communications at itsbest you are more than welcome to come to my shack and learn all you’re willingto learn! Just send me an email… 73’s George Last modified: Sun Oct 11 11:57:34 2009 Does this page contain inappropriate content? If so, Report this page... |
