Pleasure to me that you looked me up!  HA!  Here's my short and sweet preamble....   I'm married to a beautiful lady and we have a one year old little girl together that is already a future HAM in the making!  Still trying to get the XYL at least her Tech. ticket.  I work at a radio station cluster in Dyersburg, Tennessee (WTRO-AM, WASL-FM, WTNV-FM) ... as an on-air guy and papercut expert.  :oP      I enjoy broadcasting as a job, and QSO as a hobby, and the public service things that go hand in hand with both of them.

Above is my mistake when I installed the short beam and rotor; horizontal is SB and vertical is FM.... DUH...  I knew better than that...  ha!

Interfaces / Rigs Include:

* Echolink simplex node (experimental) 296280 (KI4KIE-L)
I am bound/determined to get my controller completed for my Kenwood so I can do EL simplex.

* Kenwood TH-K2AT HT transceiver @ 5w, now in the ham shack for the moment...it still gets out good at just under 5w after all these years of use... unlike my 50w 2m mobile that I burned out the finals.... oops!  That's why they make SWR meters.

* APRS node KI4KIE-1 (Home & WX Station)
APRS node KI4KIE (at Work, or while I'm out & about)

(I'm living in the stone age, I need some real radios!  5w really doesn't do jack, does it?)

11/17/2009:
I am updating this biography because it's a mess.  :oP  My station setup is complete, but you would be pleased to know that I am working on getting my no-key General... because ... well, there is just more people out there outside of 2m.  It's amazing what you can do with a wave and little power.

9/9/2009:

*** NEW: Now on APRS!!  KI4KIE-1 (HOME, & WX STATION), KI4KIE Work, maybe a KI4KIE-3 in the future??? Possibly a mobile rig???  :o)   *****
I'm still learning APRS as I go.  Did you know that when some APRS stations talk with one another, that it is plotted on a map showing the DX conditions for 2m?  Check this out...

***  5/??/2009:
The HAM SHACK has been ordered, set up, wired up, and ALMOST ready for insulation and finishing out... its just a shell (and a shed) for what's to come... pictures coming soon as well for this project.

Welcome to the HAM Shack!  The new, and ongoing, 2009 project!  (Someone got their hair cut too short...)

---------

There are a lot of good folks that have helped me get this far along the way, you all know who you are, and I appreciate everything you all have done for me.  Good friends... none better!

My first ever contact in this hobby was a man in New Zealand on Echolink back in 2005.  These digital modes are fun to work, too!

Hopefully, will soon be a member of the K4DYR radio club in Newbern/ Dyer County.  I am a shameless promoter of HAM radio when I do my air shifts on WTRO, WASL or WTNV (that is, when a HAM event is coming up, I try and plug it as much as possible).

**NEW**  The tower IS up, with a bunch of stuff on it, but will have to soon be rewired and reposition what's on it.

Feel free to send me an e-mail.  I although you may not hear me on the air very often, I listen to Dyersburg and Union City repeaters... and if you're nearby, 146.500 simplex I'm always listening to.

"My most favoritest lil' girl in the whole world!"
