Click for more detail... I received my Tech license in 2006. I received my General class license in 2008. I still consider myself a new Ham. I love the hobby and I get alot of enjoyment from the fellowship. My wife Barbara (KJ4MCY) and I have two beautiful baby girls. Eighteen months apart. My wife just recieved her Tech license, May 2009. I guess I may have influenced her somewhat. But, I am so very proud. I agree she sounds better on the air than I do. I have lots of fun on VHF/UHF. I have several moblie and handheld units. I took a CW class this year (2009), that was offered by the K4EG club, and taught by Randy, KB4QQJ. I have really surprised myself and others by the progrees I have made in such a short time. In less than three months time I am very comfortable sending and receiving at 8wpm. CW (morse code) is a very important part of the Ham Radio hobby. Certainly something that I never thought I would be doing...and having fun with it. It's only as intimidating as you make it. Of course it helps to have an awesome teacher, a great club, and a wife as understanding as mine. I also like to get on 10M. I have a vertical antenna that works real well on several HF bands. I have a 40m and 80m fan-dipole that I use with a MFJ tuner depending on the band I am trying to work. For the most part I make all my HF contacts with my Kenwood 130SE (with the exception of 10M). Other rigs I use on occasion: Yaesu-101B, Yaesu-107M, and a Ranger RCI-2950. I am active on the 40m and 75m Century Club nets. This is by far the most enjoyable way that I had found to work all states. Hands down a great group of people. I am a member of the Alamance Amateur Radio Club, Possum Trot Net, and the Alamance County ARES group. I have also recieved my Basic SkyWarn Spotter Training. Ham radio is a great hobby. So many different parts of the hobby you can enjoy. And we as radio operators are given so many opportunuties to give back to our communities. I am proud to be apart of such people. This is my current GPS location: http://www.instamapper.com/ext?key=11160016667913390561 I QSL direct. I don't send SASE's and I don't expect any SASE's.
