CQ DX, DE KR4JY - Jim. I talk on all the HF bands except 160
Meters. I am very active in
Skywarn and anything that has to do with weather. I am active in the
Montgomery Amateur Radio Club in Montgomery. I
enjoy just about any type of Public Service Event. I also enjoy
working on my Computer. My favorite bands on Ham Radio are 10, 15 and 20 Meters,
although I also stay on 40 and 80 Meters quite extensively. I have worked 327 Countries and have confirmed 324 Countries, and have earned the DXCC award. I have
worked all States on 10-10 International and have worked all States ARRL. I have also Worked All Continents (IARU), and Worked All Continents 10-10 International, and have the 10-10 DX Countries Award. My
10-10 # is 64404 and my VP # is 2840. I have a Major General designation
in the Cradle of the Confederacy Net of 10-10 International, and My Cradle # is
589LC. As of April 15, 2000, I upgraded to an Amateur Extra Class Operator. I encourage Amateur Radio as a hobby for anyone interested in
Communications. My nickname on the local simplex frequency of 147.555, better known as the triple nickel, is JY. Got that nickname because there were so many Jims already on the frequency. It caught on and now that's what everyone calls me.
On 11/09/00 I received my ARRL DXCC Millennium Award for working 100 countries in the year 2000. In December of 2001, I received my CQ Worked All Zones Award. This has been the hardest award for me to attain to date.
On 10/02/02 I confirmed North Korea (P5/4L4FN). A real highlight to my Ham Radio career. In 2006 I confirmed Peter I Island on 15 & 20 Meters. On 07/21/06 I contacted the new entity of Montenegro and on 08/02/06 I contacted Swains Island which just became a new entity. On 2/19/08 I received confirmation of Saint Barthelemy Island which recently became an entity.
Got my OMISS # 7328 on December 24, 2010. Really enjoy the net. Great bunch of guys and gals on that net. Have WAS, Call District, Membership Award, Esprit de Military Award, Statehood Award and Basic First Responder Award and endorsements for Police, Fire and EMT/Paramedic. I am also an ARRL and CAVEC Volunteer Examiner. 73.
Contacted VU7AG - Lakshadweep Island on 12/06/13. Have been trying for this one for a long time. In the process of getting it confirmed with QSL card. I am in their log though. All 327 contacts have been made with 100 Watts or less. Not a bad accomplishment.
