I was first licensed in Pasco, WA at age 13 in 1962 as WN7BDJ... then WA7BDJ. Operated CW with mostly home brew and mil surplus until 1974... then took sabatical to raise family.

Came back to Amateur Radio in December of 2002. I still mostly operate CW and especially like to operate QRP in remote locations. Rigs include Yaesu FT-817 and Elecraft KX-1 and my QRP favorite rig:  Heathkit HW9...
see:    www.kr7w.org/hw9     which can take you to other QRP pages.

Photo on this page shows me and my KX-1 at an outing to Dewey Lake... on the Pacific Crest Trail 2000, elevation 5000 ft, just east of Mt Rainier National Park.   Yah... I know... the shorts are pink, but they are nice hiking shorts and they were on sale at Lands End for $1.99.

YL, Patricia, is also a ham, WT7N.

Organizations that will have me as a member:
South Wahkiakum Amateur Radio Club: #000
FISTS 9996+CC 1720,
QRP ARCI 11456,
Flying Pigs 577,

Straight Key CC 609.

I am active in the Radio Club of Tacoma's W7OS Antique Radio Museum where the straight keys have over 500 volts across the contacts.  Surf to:    www.w7dk.org/w7os

Other expensive hobbies/interests include hiking, long distance bicycling, photography, and woodworking.
