This painting by my father is set with the Cleveland's Terminal Tower in the background, and a stylized New York Central Streamlined 4-6-4 Hudson in the foreground. The painting was inspired by the rumblings of the NYC 20th Century Limited past my father's boyhood bedroom window. This painting is presently on the front of my QSL card. I passed my Tech license test in 1996. I wasn't really active as a Tech, and didn't enjoy much the repeater HT thing. Somehow the fire for HF got lit, and after studying and practicing, I passed elements 1, 3, & 4 and obtained my Amateur Extra license in early Feb 2007. My first HF QSO was on 40m CW. I can be found on the HF bands between 10 & 40m, especially 30m. I enjoy PSK31 ragchewing and improving my skills in contests. I must thank in advance (or maybe apologize) to anyone who works slow 6-8 wpm CW with me. I earned a WAS and WAC from April 2007 to December 2007, which was during the Sunspot Cycle 23 minimum. If this barefoot station with wire antennas too close to the ground can do it, so can anyone! Equipment: IC-718 w/W4RT filters, Bencher BY-1 paddle, Palstar AT1KM tuner, Buddipole up 20', or an inverted Vee up 20-30'. Numbers: 070# 636, EPC# 2415, DMC #669, 10-10 #74781, NAQCC #1803, FISTS #13460, 30MDG# 0091, BARTG# 8262.
Here's a picture of my humble station, all set for the Ohio QSO Party 2009 and the PODXS 070 Club 1K party.
Here's my current EQSL card, without all the text, featuring "Three Birch Trees", Watercolor, 7x10. Birch trees, Evergreen trees, creeks, and rocks are common in Ohio.
Here's a picture of my first EQSL card, "Safe", watercolor, 3x5. I used it from 2007 until early Sep 2009.
I'm also playing around with a QSL card for 10m, featuring the 81st Boeing 747 built (747 number 81, 74781, get it?). Hope to see you on the air! Last modified: Sat Sep 19 14:49:50 2009 Does this page contain inappropriate content? If so, Report this page... |
