Hello to all Amateur Wireless operators this site is dedicated to the Maritime service and RNLI,You will notice when I state my qth I always say near Birmingham but I live in a small village 4 miles east of the town of Tamworth in Staffordshire first licensed 1999, I use near Birmingham as it is 15 miles west of my qth and is the nearest city.Working conditions IC-718, to Doublet at 50 feet and Marconi Straight Key, I Served Royal Air Force, 1960/63 5131 Bomb Disposal Sqn, RAF Goldsborough and Fylingdales, Yorks also RAF Holbeach,I gained my Pilots license in 1970 I have always been Interested in Maritime comms and have many qsl cards from HF Listening to South China sea air traffic Pacific and New Zealand / Australia on 5643 Khz usb ,mainly in a morning also not forgetting the South Atlantic air traffic on 8861 Khz usb evenings,also interested in / MM traffic,My qsl card denotes my interest in all maritime subjects and reflects the wonderful days of great liners when they had R/Os on board and the top left of qsl picture shows the modern way of rescue and distress today Member of International shortwave league also RAFARS, I only operate CW MODE, a picture appears on this site depicting the work of the RNLI and I thank the RNLI for allowing me to use one of their splendid photographs on my qrz page, finally I dislike the word radio I much prefer the word wireless.a different generation I suppose,most pictures on this site are by courtesy of Mike GM0HCQ radio op on the James Clark Ross, British Antarctic Survey Vessel, and RNLI, thank you for your kind permission to use on this site.----
