Hi,

I'm Kenny, I have an understanding partner and I am also a father and grandfather to two gorgeous little girls (Left to right above) Heidi and Katie , who make life a joy ! . I have been interested in radio, electrics, electronics, gadgets and the like for years and finally done my foundation on April 2012. ( should have done it years ago). I work in Aberdeen within the oil industry and have other interests which include football, boxing, F1 racing and drinking beer. (one of my favourites) I know this is short but I will over time add and subtract items into my biography.

My dual beam pro in its lowered position and you just might see one of the legs on the HF10 dipole.

My working conditions are a Kenwood TS450s with internal atu only used below 80m and an external atu Versatuner MFJ-945C for 160m. The microphone is the standard Kenwood 43S. For mobileI use a CRT 2 m mobile for the car . Also for 2 meters and 70cm I have a cheap Baufeng UV5-R which for the money is a must for the shack or handheld portable. I have even used it for mobile through the repeater network 4 watts ! for over 70 miles !

The shack

My antennas are a dual beam pro 40m-6m at 15 meters height on a telescopic mast with rotator and Fred Western HF10, 160-6m trap dipole inverted vee 14 meter peak , 6 meter ends off the ground configuration used for my secondary antenna . For portable operations I work a homebrew 10m telescopic fishing rod with a 4:1 balun with groundwire radials all home brew. For 2m and 70cm I have a 3 element owl yagi installed at 16 meters on top of the telescopic mast . At present I use a 1/4 wave mini magmount on the UV5-r and a collinear whip for mobile which hits the repeater and channels ok. My wab square is NK34 for the "Worked all Britain" finders. The shack is my xyl's caravan by the side of the house powered by 240v and 12vdc. My xyl is not overly pleased with this setup but she is understanding. The good thing about "the shack" is that I have my fridge full of beer to lubricate my throat and the heater on :) Marvelous !!!

I log through my 1.6Mhz laptop, cat connected to the Kenwood TS-450s and run Ham Radio Delux (HRD)

73s and look after yourself and family and please look back again you are always welcome.
