Click for more detail... Hey there! Alex Here. I'm 23 years old, and currently a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force. I have been serving for 6 years now as an Airfield Systems Craftsman. In laymans terms, I am an electronics technician on Air Traffic Control and Aircraft utilized Navigational Aids, Landing Systems, Radios, and Meteorological Measurement Equipment. I have been licensed for less than a year now, but I am loving every minute of it. The local folks here in Altus Oklahoma (where I am currently stationed) sparked my interest in the hobby via SKYWARN and EM. I enjoy a little ragchew here and there, as well as making DX contacts. I am pretty new to operating on the HF bands as I just got my first HF radio in August 09.
My current setup:
Even with my sub-par antenna setup, I have made quite a few DX contacts, and have been able to enjoy tinkering with various antenna types, and ideas. I am active in the Altus Area Amateur Radio Association, Altus SKYWARN Association, and the City of Altus Emergency Management, when military obligations don't interfere. I am trying my darnedest to learn CW. I practice everyday, and even sometimes on the air with some local folks willing to elmer me. If you hear me on there, and I'm messing something up, PLEASE bear with me, but feel free to shoot me an email giving me pointers if I'm doing something wrong. I'm trying, and I really want to learn it! I look forward to talking with you on the air!
