I was born in June of 1942 and received my first amatuer license in 1969. I started out as a conditional class licensee and upgraged to Extra in 1976 at Denver, CO .. all in one setting!  I'm not sure who was more amazed, the examiner or myself!

I have been active in all segments of amatuer radio at one time or another over the past 40 years but I particularly enjoy video and microwave communications. My father (W0OHU) and grandfather (W0POB) were both hams and taught me a good deal about the subject. They were both avid CW fans as I have always been too. I have been able to copy up to 35WPM but that was a few years ago! I have built a lot of my own equipment from 160M all the way to K-band microwave and everything in between.

We have lived in a lot of interesting places, Ft.Collins, CO, Burlington, IA, Lincoln, NE, Tulsa, OK, Kansas City, KS, Wichita, KS, Albuquerque, NM, Colorado Springs, CO, to name a few memorable ones.

I have been an RF/Microwave hardware component level design engineer for over 37 years and have worked at Hewlett-Packard (13), Sandia National Labs (4), IFR Systems (11), Credence Systems (7) and RT Logic (2) where I am currently an Sr.RF/Microwave design engineer.

My hobbies include street rodding and model railroading. I scratch build in "G" scale and have built both rolling stock and locomotives, both steam and diesel, mostly before all the nice stuff that is available today. About 20 years ago I built my own D&RGW rotary snow plow (OM), today you can buy one already built. My favorite is a "G" scale "Big Boy" locomotive, it's as impressive in "G" scale as it was in real life!  I made many trips between Colorado and Arkansas visiting my grandparents in the summer time before 1965 when railroads still had dinning cars and elaborate train stations, no doubt a part of what sparked my interest in model RRing.

My wife is Native American (Laguna Pueblo) and we have two son's, Bob Jr. (18) and Shawn (32). Bob Jr. graduates from Rampart HS this year and is planning to attend college at UCCS here in Colorado Springs. Shawn was in the Navy and did two deployments in the Gulf.  His ship was the second to come to the aid of the USS Cole. He is currently working and going to college.

If any of my old friends out there read this please feel free to send an E-mail? (simpsonre at yahoo.com) It would be good to hear from you!
