I WAS FIRST LICENSED IN 1966 IN PITTSBURGH PA

WHERE I TOOK THE TEST AT THE FEDERAL BUILDING

IN DOWNTOWN PITTSBURGH.

REAL FCC EMPLOYEES GAVE IT THEN AND THE MORSE CODE

PORTION OF THE TEST WAS PLAYED

ON A REEL TO REEL RECORDER,  SCARY STUFF

WHEN I WAS SO YOUNG !

I HAVE HELD THE CALLS WN3FYJ ,WA3FYJ , NW3C

I BECAME A MEMBER OF THE W3KWH , STEEL CITY ARC IN 1975 ,

AT WHICH TIME K3RYA TAUGHT ME HF CONTESTING

AND DXING AT A MORE COMPETATIVE LEVEL,

THEN AT W3KWH , I WAS INTRODUCED

TO VHF/UHF CONTESTING IN 1980 BY

W3MAC , W3ZR (SK) AND W3IOH (SK).

I OPERATED THE ARRL VHF/UHF  JUNE CONTEST

WITH THEM AND FEEL IN LOVE

WITH THE VHF BANDS EVER SINCE.

I AM STILL A MEMBER OF  STEEL CITY ARC (WWW.W3KWH.COM) ,

IAM ALSO A MEMBER OF THE NAQCC, FLWSS AND FCG CLUBS.

I AM PRESENTLY ACTIVE ON ALL BANDS

BUT MAINLY OPERATE ON 50/144/222/432/1296 MHZ ,

OPERATING WEAK SIGNAL SSB/CW AND WSJT MODES.

I STILL ENJOY VHF AND HF CONTESTING.

I HAVE VUCC AWARDS FOR 50 MHZ # 370 - -144 MHZ # 106 --222 MHZ # 58 --432MHZ # 156.

 AND 50 MHZ WAS , WAC AND DXCC AWARDS
