I have been a ham since late 1978 or early 1979 I dont have a copy of my first License. My first call was KA8FAL followed by N8CLJ shortly after I upgraded to General Class . I stayed a General for quite a few years then one day I decided it was time to go get the Extra Class Ticket ! (I wish id have gone sooner) . Then when the Vanity call N8DC came available (great cw call and my initials)! I went for it and I was lucky enough to get that call. I am a cw operator and an avid Dxer. I made the honor roll after the accreditation of the 7O1YGF Yemen operation. A little earlier than that I was given a permanent layoff from my job of 31 years giving me more time for dxing and I worked 1 or 2 of the easier countries that I didnt have worked or confirmed. I had taken a lot of time off from radio after getting back into the Street Rod hobby and that cost me a couple rare countries . Amateur Radio is a wonderful hobby . I have too many hobbies and I have actually scaled back my Street Rod building hobby to devote more time to radio. I still ride my 2006 Harley Davidson Classic Motorcycle as much as time permits. My shack consists of an Icom IC-7600 and an IC-756PROIII with an AL80A amplifier to a Dentron MT3000A tuner. That goes from the tuner to an A3S an A3WS and also switchable to an 80/40 fan dipole and a 160 Inverted L for the lower bands. For 2 meters and 70 centimeters I have a Yeasu ft-8800 with a dual band vertical at about 53 feet and a 2 meter 10 element beam at 45 feet. For 6 meters I have a Midland Syntech 1 on FM with a ringo at 50 feet and I have a 5 element yagi at 40 feet mounted horizontal and hooked to the IC-7600. You can qsl me direct but I must ask that you please include an SASE I also do LoTW and Eqsl.
The Station :) I really need to clean up the wires :) This a whole new operating desk I built over the winter (2011). More room and work space also . Its 3/4 red oak plywood stained with a gun stain and a coat of urethane to seal it from what ever it may encounter . So far its really working well and looks pretty good also. I also added a big 28 inch monitor . I really like it :)
The Antennas . The first 2 pics are of the A3s @ 50 ft and A3WS @ 40 ft and the 2/440 Vertical. The second pic is of the other tower at the other end of the house with a 6 meter ringo a 2 meter beam. Also if you look close at the first pics you can see the pulley holding the 80/40 fan dipole that really works great and the 160 inverted L .
This is what I really do best (build Hot Rods !
I sold this one for big money and ive made pretty good money on all the other cars I have built I still enjoy looking at the cars but money is short for building another car . If you are interested I can build one for you all it takes is cash :)
