Click for more detail... From left to right, you see my digital HF computer running MixW; next is a Yaesu FT-736R 144/220/440 rig; and next is a TenTec Omni VI. Behind me in the photo is my main computer, running ACLog; on this computer I also receive my e-mail, operate Echolink, etc. BTW - all of my computers are home-brew. Not seen in this photo, on top of a P/S to thre right of my TenTec is my 900 "Base" radio - a Motorola GTX. (I really need to update the pic...) I really enjoy operating on the HF digital modes, especially 30m PSK - when I find the time. In addition, you might find me occasionally on phone on the lower bands. I also operate on Echolink, but I'm just an "operator" there. :-) I'm usually on one of the local repeaters when I'm mobile, expecially those that I am Trustee for. I'm not yet retired and in what little "spare" time I have, I volunteer to two local emergency management agencies - the Will County (IL) EMA, where until recently I am a volunteer with the Field Services Division; and the Grundy County (IL) EMA, where I am an EmComm Member. I am a certified SKYWARN Weather Spotter and respond whenever I can to provide an extra set of "eyes" for NWS - Chicago, working in conjunction with nets on the Grundy County (147.270) repeater or with Will County EMA on their 800 trunked public safety system. I am the Repeater Trustee for WW9AE/R, the 444.550(+ PL 114.8) repeater which WCEMA co-sponsors with the Plainfield Radio League. In addition, I have an MSF5000 converted to operate on 927.5250 (PL 151.4 - 25 MHz split). Give a shout if you're ever in the Joliet/Will County area on either machine! Who says Ham Radio isn't a GREAT HOBBY?? 73! Last modified: Mon Dec 29 09:34:36 2008 Does this page contain inappropriate content? If so, Report this page... |
