I'm a teacher who became a lawyer who then decided to come back to teaching, (finally) finishing my Ph.D. in education in 2006. I spend my days with 7 and 8 year olds (second grade), and does it ever keep me young at heart!

I was first licensed in 1978 (as KA9BDW) when I was 14. At this (much older) point in my life I'm most interested in cw (my favorite mode) and the video and digital modes. I've lived my whole life in New Glarus, Wisconsin, a pretty little village settled by Swiss immigrants (including my 4th and 5th great-grandparents) in 1845. 73 from America's Little Switzerland and the Badger State!

If you worked me as J79RM or HB0/NA9N, please QSL to this home address.

If you worked me portable (/p), I was probably operating as NA9N/p at the Laura Ingalls Wilder birthplace in Pepin County, WI. (Please also QSL to this home address.) Laura Ingalls Wilder was a beloved author who wrote the Little House series of children’s books based on her childhood in a pioneer family. She was born in 1867 about seven miles north of Pepin, Wisconsin. This was the setting for her first book, Little House in the Big Woods, published in 1932. Laura’s birthplace has been preserved through the development of the Little House Wayside, dedicated in 1979. Both as a ham and a teacher who has had the pleasure of introducing children to Laura’s world for many years, I’m grateful to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Memorial Society of Pepin for their generosity in allowing me to operate from the wayside. It’s been a magical experience!
