My name is Ric Letson and I have been a ham since April 2002. I enjoy dx'ing, contesting and rag chewing. My favorite bands are 40m, 30m, 20m & 17m and the rig I'm currently using is a Kenwood TS-480HX. I also enjoy designing and building small homebrew projects and have recently taken a large interest in digital modes.

I am currently the Jefferson County RACES Radio Officer for Jefferson County NY. If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me at my address listed here on my qrz.com profile.

My Station

This is a panoramic rendition of my station. The image is actually 21 individual digital photos "autostitched" together so they form a seamless panorama. On the desk in the photo from left to right is:

  1. My main computer on the left (An AMD Phenom II X4 Quad 64bit 3.00GHz system with 8GB of RAM) along with it's 24" LCD Monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers.
  2. The head unit for my Kenwood TS-480HX.
  3. The Rigblaster Plug&Play and Microphone for the TS-480HX
  4. My MFJ-993B Autotuner (under the laptop on the right)
  5. My digital modes / rig control computer (the laptop sitting on top of the tuner)

The main unit for the Kenwood TS-480HX and it's power supply reside on top of a filing cabinet under the right side of the desk where they are out of the way. The desk is really more of a workbench since it's 36" tall and mounted directly to the wall. This allows me to work comfortably while sitting on a 24" high backed swivel bar stool. Working comfortably at a standard desk or table is hard to do when you're 6'5" (196cm) tall.
