No, the callsign is not a vanity call or a contest call.

I enjoy HF DXing, particularly while mobile. 6m is fun too.  I'm working very hard for my elusive DXCC #331 for Honor Roll.  Finally I can cross this off the list.  ZD9XF was kind enough to provide #331.

New Mobile Station in December 2014!  The same 2008 Toyota Tundra, now equipped with an Elecraft K3, Elecraft KPA500 amplifier, and Hi-Q Piranha 4-80 antenna.  The nicest part of this upgrade is 500W on 6m mobile...I was always able to hear much better than I could be heard.

Home Station (currently QRT): TS-850S/AT with an old BTI LK-2000 (3-1000Z) amp driving a Gap Titan DX. For 6m I use a Ten-Tec 1208 transverter with the TS-850, an old Johnson 6N2 Thunderbolt, and a homebrew Moxon rectangle up about 25'.  I extensively modified both amps, which were very interesting and fun projects.

I like having a laboratory and have a fair collection of HP and GR RF stuff from the 60s and 70s.

Professionally, I am a Fellow-Corporate Technology at "a large wireless telephone company"
