O N 6 M S
ON6MS is the call sign of Amateur Radio Club TLS. This radio club was established in 1965 in De Pinte, a town in the neighbourhood of the city of Ghent, in the Province of East-Flanders.
Soon after its foundation the club became a member of the Royal Union of Belgian Radio Amateurs UBA and represented radio amateurs in the region between two rivers, namely the Lys (often called the Golden River) and the Scheldt. The club abbreviation TLS stands for the region between Lys and Scheldt.
Founding members of the radio club included amongst others ON4PA (SK), ON5DQ (SK), ON5EH and ON5GH (SK). Some club members have been involved in international humanitarian operations: Georges ON4TJ, Peter ON6TT (UN) and Mark ON4WW (UNHCR). The club counts among its members well-known DX-ers such as ON4IZ, ON4UN, ON4WW, ON6TT, ON5UK, ON4TJ, ON4MA and others.
Club members activate the club station ON6MS in CW, SSB, digital modes and also through satellite communication. The club participates also regularly in field days and some of its members are very active in contests, QRP-activities and ARDF. Currently, the club has some 60 members, most of whom hold an amateur license.
From the start the local council of De Pinte has been very supportive and provided accommodation and financial support for the club for which we are very grateful.
Weekly meetings are held every Friday evening between 8 p.m. and midnight at the address below:
9840 De Pinte
Visitors are always welcome!
