Short biography

I am born in 1965, have a wife and two children, and I am living in a village about 25 kilometers east from Rotterdam.Ibecamea ham in 1987 (novice license in 3 months only). In 1990 I passed the examination for F. After this I sold all of my equipment as I met my wife and we started to have a family. In 1992 I started up the radiohobby again with a VHF transceiver which I lent from a fellow ham. In 1998 I got a bad illness, a streptococke infection and I got in a coma for two weeks. When I woke up again I could only move my head and I had 8 operations on ICU as they were afraid of losing one of my legs and life. After a long period of recovery I began to be more active on VHF. Finally after some years of saving money I was able to buy a HF transceiver, a Yaesu FT897.

Due to my coma the doctors found out that I also have a none born braindamage due to shortage of air for about 36 hours. This is frustrating me as I forget a lot of things like CW what I have learned. Other things are that I am disabled to work since 2000 and I cannot walk more than 100 meters. I also have a bad arm due to an accident in 1992 so I am doing CW with my computer and a program.

You can find me mostly in digital modes, as I have two other qrm makers in my house, african grey parrots who love to imitate me when I am behind the radio.

Some pictures of my new tower which has been made by my son. With great help of Gert PA9F and Patrick (future ham amateur) and my son Kevin the tower could be placed.

On twitter I can be followed as @friendsontheair.
