Click for more detail... OC-024 Kiritimati (Christmas) Island T32 QSL Direct to K6SRZ or Logbook of the World. USA stations, please understand that I can't reply to bureau requests--there is no outgoing bureau for USA to USA QSLs. DX station requests via the bureau are OK. T32CK was a low-key operation. My main purpose was to get in a week of diving on the unspoiled coral reef that surrounds Christmas Island, the largest coral atoll on the planet. In the evenings I fired up a K2/100 and made about 1000 CW QSOs on 20, 30, and 40 meters. During the ARRL 10 Meter Contest, Doug, N6TQS, made about 50 SSB QSOs with the T32CK call. Doug also operated digital modes as T32QS. It is really remarkable to see how well a simple vertical antenna performs when one has the entire Pacific Ocean as a ground plane. All direct QSL requests with postage will be honored. The above photo is the picture I'll use for the cards. "Santa" is Kim Anderson, the divemaster at Dive Kiribati and all around nice guy (very ham-friendly: he loaned me the R7000 trap vertical that I used). The other two people in the boat are me and XYL Carol. Thanks to Shuuichi Endou for use of his photo Last modified: Thu Dec 11 14:08:34 2008 Does this page contain inappropriate content?
