ve3ptc, also va3vs, gm0ley,and kd8mgz. advanced license holder in canada and scotland,uk. general class in usa. now living in canada, for some 18 years. my station: yaesu ft 1000mp, yaesu ft 102,yaesu ft 897d, yaesu ft 77,yaesu ft 200, yaesu ft 857d,kenwood tm721a vhf/uhf. yaesu ft 60r h/held. radio shack pro2045 scanner . antenna's: cushcraft ma5b 2 element beam antenna,for 20, thru 10m. homebru 4 element quad beam for 6m, diamond v2000a tri-band vertical for 6m, 2m and 70cms, 100' centre-fed horizontal fed with bal-line all the way to the tuner for 20m thru 80m, ho-10 scope, and hs 1661 ext speaker and hm102 meter. i have a soft spot for the older equipment, hence the ft 102 , ft 77 and ft200 . when i obtained my first hf license, back in the U.K, my first "real" ham radio was a yaesu ft 102, without the relay troubles! boy, was that ever a fantastic radio, with adjustable tx audio, and a bullet-proof receiver, that could cope with any conditions. finally, i recently acquired an excellent condx ft102,which has been "malcomised". nc4l, what a great guy,and he really knows his stuff when it comes to the 102.
now starting to look at the drake radio's, and some tentec. i had a drake tr4, and loved it. looking fwd to obtaining a tentec corsair, and possibly an omni 6. very nice radio !!
i operated from vp9 last year, but only on vhf. i will be back on vp9 signing as vp9/ve3ptc sometime in september 2013. i will be qrv on 6m thru 17m using a yaesu ft 897 at 100w with 1/4 wave multi-band homebru vertical.
