Born in England, 1950. First licenced as G3XMX in 1968 while attending school in England. First transmitter homebrewed with 6V6 6V6 6V6 line up (Vfo, Buffer, PA). Rx was RX1155 salvaged from dump! First QSO was with elmer Bill, G2ARW. Many other friends in early days, Geoff G3VIJ Gordon G3MNL. Started with Cable & Wireless in 1969, attending Engineering college in Porthcurno, Cornwall England. Built HW32A and discovered SSB! Posted to Guyana 1970 issued licence G3XMX/8R1 but not allowed to import radio gear!!! Operated 8R1UGF at University of Guyana. Went to South Africa in 1975, licenced as ZS6BNZ and operated that call for 8 years. Father (Peter) obtained licence in England and I gave him my old call of G3XMX. (Silent key 1985). Emigrated to Canada where first licenced as VE3NTW for 15 years. Changed to two letter call, VE3RZ in November 1997. Operate on HF, (ICOM 751A) with approx 98% time on CW. Avid contester with best placing as ZS6BNZ in 1978 (I think) in CQWW SO 10m entry came 6th world wide with new African record for that year. (Broken the very next year by Marti Laine from CT3!). Enjoy all contesting with CW first choice. Currently guest operator at VA3SK, VE3HG etc.

Jul 2007 moved to new QTH in Brookville, ON.  Now have 1 acre to play with.  Antennas grown include KLM34 modified to M2 version on 50ft tower, 80m dipole at 48ft. 2 x phased verticals 40m switched end-fire. 80m 1/4w vertical. 160m inverted L, 65ft high.  Rigs are K2/100, IC7000 & IC756Pro. Amps HL1000 (3-500z) and AL80B.
