This photo of Mt. Cheam (above, right) was taken looking east from atop my 45-foot tower. My QTH is "a couple of hundred metres above the valley" on the north-east side of Chilliwack Mountain on BC's west coast.

Chilliwack is about 100 kms east of Vancouver.

40m / 30m

I am running a "hybrid" of my 1977 Hygain 402BA 2-element Yagi with a SteppIR "trombone element" as the driven element, and the old linear-loaded Hygain 40m reflector tuned for "CW".

I also re-tuned the old 402BA driven element as a 30m reflector. Does it ever work WELL on BOTH bands! The pile-ups are a snap to crack (and generate) now!!!

- The right element is the SteppIR "Trombone Driven Element"

- The first element to the left of the mast is the "standard" SteppIR reflector

- The next element is the full-sized 30m reflector, made from the remnants of the old 402BA driven element

- The final element on the far left is the original "un-modified" 40m linear-loaded reflector from my old Hygain 402BA, circa 1977!!!!

Considering the short boom-lengths,this 2-element Hygain/SteppIR "hybrid" is an AMAZING performer from 10m to 40m!!!

TX:

Full-sized elevated 4-Square. Wire verticals hung amongst the tall trees, feed-point 12-feet off the ground. Only 4 radials per vertical but WOW!!! does that COMTEK box WORK WELL!!! (Now made by DXE).

RX:

DX Engineering 480' bi-directional Beverage 12' off the ground with DXE pre-amps. This system WORKS AS ADVERTISED!!!!!!!! It's also AMAZING on 160m.

=====================================================================

For the year I was in New Zealand (1990) I also held ZL0ABA.

I take QSLing VERY seriously, and I try to return the QSLs "same day received" when SASE received.

*** No SASE and your QSL will not be answered ***

N.B.

I usually upload my logs to e-QSL and LoTW each weekend. "Electronic QSL" by either option is my preferred QSL method because it's cheaper and faster!

Gud DX es 73!
