If you made it here, we probably had a radio contact - Thank you!

This is part 2 of my radio journey. You can find out about part 1 here.

It has been 21 years since I last operated a radio. I married, emigrated to Australia from Guernsey (GU4IUW) and had two wonderful daughters, who are now all grown up.

I live with my wife Alison and kids in a crowded suburban environment surrounded by electrical noise, and more noise!

I have very little room for antennas so I only have a fan dipole for 15m and 40m.

I am doing a lot of research on different aerial types ;-)

Most operation is on JT65-HF with JT-Alert. You should be able to stalk me on HamSpotshttp://hamspots.net/jt65/

I am using an FT102/FC102 combination, which spent 21 years double boxed in the garage. When I fired it up again for the first time it was missing a display segment on the digital readout and had very noisy controls.

I was able to obtain asecond hand display unit from Geoff Brown GJ4ICD (now G4ICD) who owns G whip in the UK.

For 2m/70cm I have a Wouxun KG-UV6D V2, and a dual-band half wave flowerpot antenna. The instructions on the VK2ZOI website were followed exactly, and the antenna worked first time without any issues. It is now up at 10m allowing me to hear and work themultitude of repeaters in Sydney.

To obtain money for food, I workbeg as a web developer for Nepean Blue moutains Local health District.
