Thanks for your interest and for looking up VK6NU on QRZ.COM. The above photos were taken during THE VK6 DX CHASERS CLUB recent DX-pedition to Thevenard Isl OC-140 using the Callsign VI6TI.(June 2003)

This was our AO-40 portable station, consisting of Surveyors tripod with an AZ/EL rotator mounted on top. The dish is a 65cm offset type and feed is 5.25 turn helix. The downconverter is the AIDC-3731AA from K5GNA. The 70cm antenna is a 9 elm Qagi which was knocked up for $5 and works very well. The rig used was my YAESU FT-847.

I have a similar setup at my home qth, the main difference is a 16 elm crossed yagi for 70cm uplink and Marshall MX2001 Studio Mike fed through a Behringer MX-602A Mixer and fed into the data socket on the back of my FT-847 giving plenty of audio input. I also use the data socket for my PTT using a footswitch for this. I spend quite a lot of time chasing DX on AO-40 and am closing in on 50 countries worked since coming on air in Feb 2003. I am not active on any other satellites at the moment and the forward and store type of satellites do not appeal to me. I hope Amsat will put up another AO-40 type Satellite in the future even if a more basic unit. I like Mode S as a downlink and most people will already have the gear by then.

Other radio interests are chasing DX and working IOTA, I have been away on a few island trips and have operated from OC-140, OC-164 and OC-170 I also like contesting and Field Day type activities. I am a member of a radio Club in Perth, the club is called "The Northern Corridor Radio Group" and they are a very active Club taking part in Field days and contests. Many of you will have worked the Club Call VK6ANC from the elusive CQ Zone 29 and I have will probably have given some of you a few multipliers over the years.

If you want a qsl send either direct or through the VK6 buro, I try to qsl all contacts but do find qsling a bit of a chore so apologies if you are waiting on a card. I hope to be up to date on all AO-40 qsl's in the next couple of weeks and will try to get up to date on HF soon. If you are waiting send me an email and I will promise to get one off to you.

Look forward to working you soon.
