I have moved and VY0HL is now QRT, and will operate as VO1FOG from Newfoundland Island.

Both my VY0 beacons (VY0SNO/b, 50.048 and VY0YHK/b, 50.035) are still on the air and will remain until they die or are euthanized. Please spot if you hear them.

Airbus A380 taxiing at CYFB January 2012. Aircraft is flying an A350

engine, doing cold wx testing. Temp -35C.

A380 entering a simulated rejected take-off; note spoilers just coming up.

Visible aurora January 23, 2012. Temp -35C. Camera (Nikon D90) not happy!

When skies are clear and dark, aurora is almost always visible at this latitude.

However, this year (2012) the aurora was particularly bright. This display

went on for HOURS and at times covered the entire sky. Even for us folks

up here who are used to seeing aurora regularly, this night was especially

awe-inspiring! Still photos do not capture it properly.

Snowy Owl (Bubo scandiacus). I think she likes me! Shot < 1km from shack.

Perigrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus) 4 km from shack.

Arctic hare (Lepus arcticus). Photo shot .002 km from shack.

Midnight, July 21.

November 22. Water still warm, air very cold -27C, creates "sea smoke".

Sun always close to the horizon and never loses its orange glow this

time of year. Shot 27-Dec at 1235 hrs.
