Greetings from the Texas Hill Country, where we bar-b-que, sit outdoors at night around a fire, and swap stories.
My ham station consists of some good eBay finds, a few Tokyo Hy-Power amps, and a Heathkit SB-220 converted to 6m by the Heathkit conversion genius Lou Parascondola of King Conversions. Antennas are Buckmaster OCF, Arrow Phased Yagis, PAR 6m Moxon, and Hustler G7-144. A mix of hardline and LMR-400 keeps everything well fed.
Kenwood TS-50 for HF and TS-60 for 6m. Yaesu FT-736R for VHF/UHF. True classics, in my opinion.
I like 6m and 17m the best, but do a lot of local 2m as well. Just launched into 2m SSB in 2013, using a pair of phased Arrow yagi's. Also use a PAR Electronics Moxon beam for 6m--this is a great antenna, and handles legal limit.
8,000 hour pilot, more or less, gliders to light jets. Majority of my flight time is in Mooneys. Still working on my helo add-on, slowly.Very slowly. R22(thumbs down) and Schweizer300CBi (thumbs up) are thepoor aircraft that have to endure my rotorwing assaults. Favorite aircraft to fly is the Aerostar 600. Don't get me started on aviation topics, I won't stop talking.
A couple of good quotes:
"Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children what it was once like in the United States where men were free."
"Before you decide not to be bold, you must first remember how long you will be dead."
"God is dead."-- Nietzche
"Nietzche is dead." -- God
