Welcome to my QRZ.com listing. I have been a ham since 1972 when I got my Novice license (WN2EVH) courtesey of the Stromberg-Carlson Radio Club in Rochester, NY. After joining the Navy in 1974 I upgraded to General (WB2CPV) while I was stationed in Jacksonville, FL. During that time I became active in Navy MARS and ran hundreds of phone patches for afloat units from the ham station at NAS Cecil Field. After Cecil Field I spent two years on a destroyer, USS Stump DD-978, where I establised an afloat MARS station for the crew. I served in the Navy for 6 years as an electronics technician. Before the FCC changed the rules about you home location/callsign I briefly held WD5HTO when my parents retired to Texas and that was my home of record address. After my 6 years in the USN I got our and took up reseidence with my XYL in Jacksonville, FL where I was active with NOFARS and the RANGE groups. I still have many friends in Jacksonille. In the late 80's I took a federal job that took my family to Washington, DC. Hamming kind of got put on the back burner because of antenna restrictions. My work with the State Department took me to the four corners of the globe. I had the opportunity to operate with my call from the former Yugoslavia, Botswana, Belieze, and Sao Tome & Principe. After my 27 years with Uncle Sam I have settled now in Friendswood, Texas which is a suburb of Houston. I work as the Director of Port Security & Emergency Operations for the Port of Houston Authority. We are the 3rd largest port in the country an 6th largest in the world. I know have an HF station set-up at home and enjoy working the digital modes. I also hangout on the local repeaters.
